Dear Families,
This letter is to inform you that the coastal redwood tree in the Bancroft staff parking lot area next to the portables will need to be removed. The tree has been determined to be in declining health due to a combination of stress factors. These factors include dead and dying branches, canker/fungal disease that affect warm, dry, drought-stressed sites, and generally unfavorable growing conditions due to the surrounding pavement. At a height of approximately 90 feet, the tree has been determined to be a potential hazard, especially in unfavorable weather conditions such as high winds. Due to this potential hazard, the tree removal has been scheduled for June 16, 2008. If you have any questions, please call Greg Dyer, Manager of Maintenance and Operations at (510) 618-4440.

Summer School - Summer is fast approaching and now is the time to plan ahead. For some students that means SUMMER SCHOOL. Summer school will be held at Bancroft this year for grades 5-7 in subjects Math and English Language Arts. The program will start June 23rd and go until July 31st. Classes will be held Monday to Thursday, 8:00am-12:30pm. That’s right there are no classes on Fridays. Be sure to get an application from your counselors and turn them in ASAP.
