PHYSICAL EDUCATION GUIDELINES AND EXPECTATIONS

PURCHASING LOCKS AND UNIFORMS:
*Each student must purchase a PE department lock ($6) from the PE department as they have a control key for teachers. Personal locks are prohibited.
*Students are required to wear the Bancroft PE uniform and/or the Bancroft PE sweats in any combination so long as there is a bottom item and a top item.
*Thus, the clothes can be purchased in any combination as long as there is a bottom Bancroft item (sweat pants or shorts) and a top Bancroft item (hooded sweat top or shirt).
*The cost of the items are as follows:
Shirt $10
Shorts $10
Sweat Pants $15
Hooded Sweat Top $20
PE Lock $6
*Cash only please. We cannot accept checks.
*The PE Department will be selling locks and uniforms on Friday, August 22 from 2:30-4:00pm in conjunction with 6th grade orientation. We will also be selling items after school and during class for the first week or two of school. Special arrangements can be made if these times do not work for you. Call Mr. Sorensen at 618-4380 (x3693) if you have any questions or concerns.
GRADING POLICY:
Grading is based on dressing, daily participation, attendance, being on time to class, assignments, class work or homework, assessments, sportsmanship, and citizenship/behavior. Each teacher has his/her own grading policy that will be explained and handed out to the class. Teachers will be grading students based on approximately three week units. Students have the opportunity to make up EXCUSED ABSENCES through teacher-assigned make-up work. Students are responsible for checking with their teacher for make-up work. Students should ask for make-up work immediately after they have returned to the class from the absence.
DRESS CODE:
*Students must wear the Bancroft PE uniform ($10 shirt, $10 shorts) and/or the Bancroft sweats ($20 hooded top, $15 bottoms) in any combination. CASH ONLY PLEASE!
*Students may wear their own sweats (grey, red, or blue) as long as the Bancroft shirt and shorts are worn underneath.
*Point deductions will be given if jeans or pants are worn underneath sweats
*Students must wear athletic shoes. No hi-heals, open-toed, or dress shoes
*Jewelry, watches, hoop earrings, etc. must be removed before class
*Hats and sunscreen are recommended when outdoors
*A maximum of two PE clothes loaners can be checked out per quarter
*PE clothes should be washed on a regular basis.
*Other than your name on the name plates, no writing on the uniform is allowed. No sagging of shorts.
PARTICIPATION POLICY:
*Dress for class in uniform as stated above
*Students are expected to participate with an adequate effort in each and every activity. This includes roll call, the daily warm-ups and run, the day’s main activity/game, and any assignments, quizzes, or assessments.
*Students are expected to follow the rules of each activity and show proper sportsmanship.
*Talking and distracting behaviors are prohibited during teacher instruction and demonstration.
*No personal belongings (backpacks, phones, balls, etc) are allowed in class.
*Provide a parent’s note in order to modify or restrict student’s activity. Retroactive notes are accepted. A parent note expires after three days. Anything requiring modification beyond three days typically requires a doctor’s note.
LOCKERS:
*Each student will be assigned his/her own mini-locker, based on their PE period
*The large/tall locker can be used only during the PE period since it will be used by the following class
*Let a PE teacher know if another person’s lock has been left on your PE locker
*Each student must purchase a PE department lock ($6) from the PE department as they have a control key for teachers. CASH ONLY PLEASE!
*Each student must keep his/her own combination and locker private
*When changing, each student must keep an eye on his/her lock and belongings at all times
*Sharing of lockers is not allowed. Using a locker not assigned to you is not allowed.
*All items must be locked up at all times. Do not leave anything unlocked, ever!! You are responsible for your items. Items will be lost, stolen, or vandalized if they are not locked securely.
*You may temporarily store your belongings in the PE offices in the event that you lost your lock.
LOCKER ROOM BEHAVIOR:
*Dispose of food and drinks before entering the locker room
*Walk quietly and orderly into locker room. Pushing, yelling, screaming, throwing, pounding, slamming doors, and horseplay are prohibited.
*Dress and report to your meeting location within 5 minutes
*Lock all of your belongings. Double check to make sure your locker is secure and locked
GENERAL RULES FOR ALL PE STUDENTS:
*All students report to their numbers after dressing. No loitering in the G-wing, hallways, or courtyards.
*Do not touch or handle a teachers cart or any equipment (cones, balls, etc) unless instructed to do so.
*Students cannot enter the gym until a teacher is present and permits students to enter.
*When in the gym, students are not allowed on the stage at anytime.
*Students are to stay away from the portables (P-1, P-2, P-3, P-4) at all times.
*When transitioning past another PE class that is receiving instruction, or when traveling through the hallways to the gym or cafeteria, students must be as quiet as possible. We should not and cannot disturb other classes.
*Students may not go to the bathroom or get water without their teacher’s permission. Passes are needed to use the restroom.
POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES:
*The school wide 3 level discipline policy is adhered to: Level 1=official verbal warning, Level 2=five minute time out, and Level 3=time in the “buddy” room.
*A referral to the office will be given if behavior does not improve after a trip to the buddy room.
*The discipline steps start anew at the beginning of each day unless a student reaches the “Rule of Three.”
*The “Rule of Three” refers to continual entries (3 separate days) into the discipline log without achieving at least 3 consecutive between entries.
*Students placed on the rule of three do not start anew each day. They start at the level attained for the latest entry. Three consecutive days without a discipline entry removes a student from the rule of three.
*Other consequences may include: deduction of points, phone call home, parent/teacher conference, teacher or school detentions, trash/cleaning duty, sentence writing, “think about it” worksheets, and/or citations/referrals.
*For cases of equipment abuse or vandalism, full restitution by the student to the PE department will be expected.
*Automatic referrals are given for those who leave class without permission or who during second dress leave the locker room area before being dismissed by the teacher or the bell. Examples include leaving early for lunch, break, or just to get a head start to the next class. Non-dressed students must still report to the loc
LOST AND FOUND:
*Locks, shoes, clothes, PE clothes, books, keys, back packs, etc. are frequently found and turned into the PE office. Do not hesitate to check with any of the PE teachers if you are missing personal belongings.
PURCHASING UNIFORMS AND LOCKS:
*Uniforms and locks are sold throughout the year in the locker rooms. At the beginning of the year, for the first 1.5 weeks, these items are sold during class (as lockers are being assigned) and after school. If these times do not work, special arrangements can be made by contacting any PE teacher. CASH ONLY PLEASE!

POLITICA PARA CALIFICAR:
Las calificaciones son basadas en el uso del uniforme, la participación diaria, la asistencia, llegar a tiempo a la clase, las asignaciones, el trabajo en clase, las evaluaciones, la dedicación, la conducta y comportamiento. Cada maestro tiene su propio sistema para calificar que será explicado y entregado a los estudiantes en la clase. Los maestros calificaran a los estudiantes en aproximadamente tres unidades semanales. Los estudiantes tendrán la oportunidad de recuperar las FALTAS A CLASES QUE HAYAN SIDO EXCUSADAS, por medio de asignaciones del maestro. Los estudiantes son responsables por chequear con el maestro para pedirle trabajo para recuperar tan pronto regresen a la escuela después de haber faltado a clases.
POLITICA PARA VESTIR:
• El estudiante debe usar su Uniforme de PE de Bancroft ($10 la camiseta y $10 los shorts y/o sudadera de Bancroft $20 suéter y $15 pantalón sudadera). EFECTIVO SOLAMENTE POR FAVOR.
• El estudiante puede usar sus propias sudaderas siempre y cuando sean de color gris, rojo o azul, la camiseta de Bancroft es obligatoria (se debe usar por encima de sudaderas particulares
• Habrá una reducción de puntos si el estudiante se llega a clase con jeans o pantalones regulares.
• Zapatos atléticos (no plataformas, zapato formal o sandalias), para deporte.
• No joyas (ejem. aretes largos, pulseras, collares, relojes & anillos).
• Recomendamos gorras o cachuchas & bloqueador solar para actividades al aire libre.
• Solo se permite un máximo de dos prestamos de uniformes al trimestre
• El uniforme de PE se debe lavar regularmente
• No se permite ningún tipo de escritura en el uniforme excepto el nombre del estudiante en la etiqueta. No pantalones anchos o embolsados.
POLITICA PARA LA PARTICIPACION EN LA CLASE DE PE:
• Vestirse para tomar la clase como se estipula anteriormente.
• Se espera que los estudiantes participen adecuadamente en todas las actividades, esto incluye el llamado por lista, el calentamiento, actividad del día, juegos, asignaciones, quizzes o evaluaciones
• El estudiante deben cumplir con las reglas de cada actividad y demostrar buena actitud deportiva.
• Hablar y distraer la clase es prohibido durante la instrucción y demostración del maestro.
• No se permiten artículos personales durante la clase (mochilas, teléfonos, pelotas, etc)
• Proporcionar una nota del padre en caso de que sea necesario modificar la actividad del estudiante, se aceptan nota retroactivas. La nota de un padre expira depuse de tres (3) días. Cualquier actividad que requiera modificación por más de tres días requiere una nota del doctor.
LOCKERS/Armarios:
• A cada estudiante se le asignara un locker/armario de acuerdo al periodo de PE
• El locker/armario grande puede ser usado solo durante la hora de PE, ya que debe estar disponibles para el siguiente periodo.
• Favor avisar al maestro de PE si el candado de otro estudiante ha sido olvidado en tu locker.
• Cada estudiante debe comprar un candado de combinación o clave en el Dep. de PE (valor de $6). EFECTIVO SOLAMENTE POR FAVOR.
• Cada estudiante se debe hacer responsable por mantener su combinación segura y privada.
• El estudiante debe permanecer atento a la hora de cambiarse y cuidar sus pertenencias
• NO se permite compartir lockers con otros estudiantes
• Todos los artículos deben permanecer asegurados todo el tiempo, Favor no dejar los locker sin asegurar, el estudiante es responsable por sus artículos ya que se pueden perder o ser vandalizadas si no se aseguran.
• Si extravías tu locker puedes guardar tus pertenencias temporalmente en la oficina de PE
COMPORTAMIENO EN LOS VESTIDORES (LOCKER ROOM ):
• Tirar bebidas o comida ANTES de entrar al vestuario.
• Caminar hacia el vestuario silenciosamente, no empujar, gritar, tirar artículos.
• Vestirse en un periodo de no más de 5 minutos.
• Asegurar con candado los artículos personales, revisar y asegurarse que el armario esta con llave.
REGLAMENTO GENERAL PARA TODOS LOS ESTUDIANTES DE PE:
*Todos los estudiantes deben reportarse a su número asignado después de vestirse para la clase de PE. No
Jugar en los pasillos, en los patios.
*No tocar o manipular el carrito del maestro o el equipo (conos, pelotas, etc.) al menos que sea indicado
por el maestro.
*Los estudiantes no deben entrar a gimnasio hasta que el maestro lo indique.
*Al llegar al gimnasio, los estudiantes o deben subirse al escenario.
*Los estudiantes deben mantenerse alejados de los portátiles (P-1, P-2, P-3, P-4) todo el tiempo.
*A l momento de pasar otras clase de PE que se encuentren en instrucción, o al pasar por los pasillos o la
Cafetería se debe guardar silencio para no interrumpir las clases.
*Los estudiantes NO deben ir al baño o ir a tomar agua sin el permiso del maestro. Se necesitara un pase
para ir al baño.
POSIBLES CONSECUENCIAS:
*Los tres niveles de la política disciplinaria son los siguientes: Nivel 1=advertencia verbal oficial, Nivel 2= cinco minutos en reprensión/time out, y el Nivel 3= tiempo en el “buddy room” salón de reprensión.
*Se asignara una referencia para ir a la oficina si el comportamiento no mejora después de haber sido enviado al “buddy room.”
*Los pasos disciplinarios empiezan nuevamente al principio del día escolar al menos que el estudiante alcance la regla de tres “Rule of Three.”
*La Regla de Tres/Rule of Three se refiere a tres infracciones continuas (3 días separados) en el registro disciplinario sin recibir por lo menos 3 infracciones consecutivas entre registros.
*Los estudiantes que sean colocados en la regla de tres no vuelven a empezar cada día. Ellos continúan en el nivel que quedaron en el último registro. Tres días consecutivos sin registros disciplinarios remueve al estudiante de la regla de tres.
*Otras consecuencia podrían incluir: deducción de puntos, llamadas telefónicas a la casa, conferencias con los padres/maestros, detenciones del maestro o de la escuela, trabajos de limpieza, escribir una oración,“think about it” y o citaciones o referencias.
*Para casos de vandalismo o abuso, se enfrentara restitución del estudiante al departamento de PE.
*Referencias automáticas con asignadas a todos aquellos estudiantes que salen de la clase sin permiso o que durante el segundo cambio de ropa se retiran de la clase sin ser despachados por el maestro o que no esperan la campana. Ejemplos incluyen: salirse temprano para la hora de almuerzo, para el recreo, o para llegar de primero a la otra clase.
ARTICULOS EXTRAVIADOS Y RECUPERADO:
*Candados, zapatos, uniformes de PE, libros, llaves, mochilas, ext.. Son frecuentemente encontrados y entregados a la oficina de PE. Si su estudiante pierde algún artículo personal, puede comunicarse con la oficina de PE.
