She led a group of women that voted illegally, to test their status as citizens. She was arrested, tried and sentenced to pay $100, which she refused. Following her death in 1906 after five decades of tireless work, the Democratic and Republican parties both endorsed women's right to vote. 9. From GSA & Crane Crew: Dear broncos young and younger,
Next week we will host two important events i would like to explain a bit about.
The first is crane week. You all have seen the crane display of our first 700 cranes for peace. Now you get the opportunity to join in by learning to make cranes in your RIP classes as well as each finding your own personal way to bring more peace and less teasing and bullying in our school community. In addition to our wish for peace at home, we plan to send as many cranes as we can to Japan through an organization that gives $2 for each crane toward helping Earthquake, Tsunami, and radiation victims. Find out more in RIP classes of participating teachers.
Secondly, on Tuesday of the same week of peace we will focus on the verbal and physical violence against the Gay, Lesbian, Bi and Transgendered community with the Day of Silence. If you wish to participate on Tuesday the 24th, come to the patio during break and lunch to sign up and promise to keep silent all during break and lunch. You will receive a sticker that will explain to others that you are participating and can join us in sitting around the magnolia tree in unified silence. Why a day of silence? The silence represents the fact that so much violence against the GLBT community goes by un-talked about, that many young gay or questioning youth are silenced into hiding and shame, that when people do talk about it, often it is as a put down. If you have a GSA shirt or any black top please wear it on Tuesday to show solidarity. If you want a GSA shirt, bring $12 and buy it at the patio at lunch. Thank you! - Crane Crew and GSA
Have a great day Broncos!
